(Our Statement of Purpose for JAC)
As you may have guessed from the name, our purpose is to ballroom
dance! The
club exists to provide instruction in social dancing to
interested students
and faculty. Concepts of leading and following are taught, as
well as steps
from a variety of dances - including Foxtrot, Waltz, Swing,
Tango, Cha-Cha,
Merengue, Mambo, and Rumba. The club also provides continued
instruction and
practice time for more advanced members.
The club meets once a week for two hours. Meetings are either
lessons or practice sessions. The lessons are given by Charlyn Gee, senior EE. She has been dancing for 3 years, and is very enthusiastic about ballroom dance.
Note: Cooper Union Ballroom is not competitive.
Instead, social style dance is taught.
