Professional Association Conference Travel Fund

Students who plan to attend a national or regional professional conference and who have already applied for JAC funding are invited to apply for additional funding to help cover conference registration fees, travel, and lodging costs. This is meant to supplement the funding student professional associations receive through JAC, not to take its place, in efforts to maximize attendance at professional conferences and national career fairs. Professional associations are a valuable educational and professional resource and students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of all they have to offer, including attending conferences around the country.

In order to receive conference travel funds students are required to submit an application which includes cost breakdown, short essay response, résumé and unofficial transcript. The application cycle opens each fall and spring and will be announced through student email newsletters and Cooper Career Connection.

  • Founded by inventor, industrialist and philanthropist Peter Cooper in 1859, The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art offers education in art, architecture and engineering, as well as courses in the humanities and social sciences.

  • “My feelings, my desires, my hopes, embrace humanity throughout the world,” Peter Cooper proclaimed in a speech in 1853. He looked forward to a time when, “knowledge shall cover the earth as waters cover the great deep.”

  • From its beginnings, Cooper Union was a unique institution, dedicated to founder Peter Cooper's proposition that education is the key not only to personal prosperity but to civic virtue and harmony.

  • Peter Cooper wanted his graduates to acquire the technical mastery and entrepreneurial skills, enrich their intellects and spark their creativity, and develop a sense of social justice that would translate into action.
