JSC Subcommittees
The 2012-2013 Joint Student Council
Representatives serving on the committees formed under faculty governance, noted with an asterisk, must be in good academic standing and have plurality.
Academic Standards*
Each faculty has its own academic standards committee. The Academic Standards Subcommittees define the minimum academic performance acceptable to each faculty, review academic performances each semester, and determine whether students are allowed to continue at The Cooper Union or are asked to withdraw or are dismissed for failing to meet these standards. Students who fail to meet the minimum standard are asked to explain their academic performance to the committee. The Academic Standards Subcommittees meet at least three times a year (at the end of the fall semester, the week before Commencement, and the beginning of the summer.) All matters brought before the committees are confidential. The Academic Standards Subcommittees are also involved in cases involving academic dishonesty.
