Cornell University has a searchable database of MSDS sheets for about 250,000 chemicals. You can search by name or formula. Be warned--it takes a while to run a search, so you may want to use a faster computer.
Sigma-Aldrich
Sigma-Aldrich also has a searchable database of MSDS sheets for every chemical that they carry. The only hassle is that you have to register to use the site, but it is free. The advantage is that you'll be hard-pressed to search for a chemical that Aldrich does NOT carry. If you need more obscure MSDS sheets, this is the way to go.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Chemistry WebBook includes thermochemical data for organic and inorganic compounds, reaction thermochemistry data, IR, UV/Vis and mass spectra, electronic and vibrational spectra, spectroscopic data for diatomic molecules, ion energetics data, and thermophysical property data. A VERY useful site.
Chemfinder
Chemfinder searches for physical properties from name, formula, or CAS number. Chemfinder provides a chemical structure along with various physical properties (e.g. melting point, density, etc.) and a long list of links which provide additional infor mation.
