KIRSTEN SCHULTZ Kirsten Schultz received her Ph.D. in Latin American History from New York University. She is the author of Tropical Versailles: Monarchy, Empire and the Portuguese Royal Court in Rio de Janeiro, 1820-1821(Routledge, 2001). She has taught at New York University and Columbia University, where she spent a year at the Society of Fellows in the Humanities. Her current research interests include urban culture and the problem of slavery in eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century Brazil. | BACK | |
