Tzarina Prater is currently finishing her dissertation, entitled "Sharp Bones: Reimagining the Black Heroic in the 20th Century." She has published an article, "Old Man Your Kung Fu is Useless: African American Spectatorship and Hong Kong Action Cinema," as well as poetry and short fiction. Her interests include nineteenth- and twentieth-century African American literature, twentieth-century global Anglophone literature, colonial and post-colonial literature, and theory, film, cultural and gender studies.
