Summary

This project aims at the integration of new educational technologies and methodologies in the critical discipline of VLSI chip design and fabrication for the upper division of the undergraduate electrical engineering and computer science curricula. The main goal of the project is to develop a "virtual" laboratory enviornment for electronic design automation (EDA), VLSI implementation and CMOS fabrication of digital and analog circuits and systems among the institutions of the Gateway Coa lition. To realize this virtual VLSI laboratory, the different institutions musty be interconnected together with a robust and bandwidth-sufficient network. The establishment of such coalition-wide inter-networking infrastructure will foster team work a nd serve all disciplines of engineering education.
