The
instrumentation and measurement laboratory is used to teach
juniors
fundamental ideas in the field. These include calibration,
the
evaluatiojn of measurement techniques considering accuracy,
precision,
resolution and sensitivity, testing to obtain material properties,
and
time varying measurements. Student experiments involve thermocouples,
strain gages, resistance measuring methods, and the transient
behavior of
series RC and RLC circuits.
The instrumentation and measurement laboratory requires
students to prepare formal written reports and
to give oral presentations thus teaching these communications
skills as
well.
