CURF staff collaborates with the private sector, the government and Cooper alumni to seek out new research opportunities appropriate to the foundation's mission.
The administration of CURF's activities is overseen by a program committee of the board of directors, which must preapprove all CURF proposals, vetting the projects for their appropriateness to both CURF's mission and the educational mission of the school. Several times a year, CURF submits to the program committee a list of proposals; of those that win committee approval, a few materialize and others do not, depending upon the success of early research.
Projects that pass the Board's scrutiny and come to fruition are funded entirely by outside sources, mostly foundations, and the private sector. Most of the foundation's money used to come from government sources. Today research funding comes from both the government and the private sector.
