The first building to be erected by Cooper Union in half a century, the new academic building is mandated to have the same impact that the Foundation Building had on higher education in 1859 and that the college's Chrysler Building had on New York City architecture in the 1930s. Already, The New York Times has said, "The Project, by Thom Mayne of the Los Angeles-based firm Morphosis, will not merely reinvigorate the campus; it is an example of how to create powerful architecture that is not afraid to engage its urban surrounding."

$35 million
