Introduction
Construction of our new academic building — and renovation of the Foundation Building — are the linchpins of The Cooper Union's strategic plan to assure academic excellence and financial security well into the 21st century. In fiscal year 2008, our generous donors contributed $8 million to the building fund, bringing the total to $56 million. We owe a huge debt of gratitude and offer our heartfelt thanks to the many thoughtful individuals — both alumni and friends — and organizations whose contributions support this vital enterprise.

Leadership Gifts
To recognize donors who give $100,000 or more, we will offer naming opportunities in The Cooper Union's new academic building and the nationally landmarked Foundation Building to honor them or their loved ones. Named spaces range from specialized laboratories and state-of-the-art classrooms to dramatic public spaces like the atrium, the grand stairway and the art gallery in the new academic building — and from faculty offices and exhibition lobbies to the Great Hall in the Foundation Building. We are truly grateful to those donors who are helping to raise our physical plant to the level of the extraordinary education we offer.

Donor Walk
The names of all donors who contribute $25,000 or more, including Leadership Gift donors, will be engraved on the Donor Walk — prominently displayed above the stairway the descends from the new academic building's main lobby to the gallery and Frederick P. Rose Auditorium on the floor below. We are delighted to acknowledge these contributors in such a meaningful way.

Alumni on Wall Street Sky Bridge
To recognize alumni donors working in the financial services industry who give the equivalent of one, two, three or four years' tuition ($30,000-$120,000), we will inscribe their names on the spectacular sixth-floor Wall Street Sky Bridge. We sincerely thank these donors who honor in perpetuity Peter Cooper's principle that education should be "as free as air and water."

Alumni Roof Terrace
Among our most attractive naming opportunities is the new academic building's Alumni Roof Terrace. Gifts from alumni of $2,500 to $20,000 reserve an engraving in stone on the northwest corner of the eighth floor — a unique, expansive, outdoor urban space where students, faculty and guests will congregate. We gratefully thank our many alumni who have already ensured their place on the Roof Terrace — as well as the parents of alumni who have reserved pavers in honor of their children and the children of alumni who have reserved pavers in honor of their parents.

Friends
Every gift to The Cooper Union's new building fund is crucial to the development of our academic facilities. Each one contributes to the future of the college and is greatly appreciated. Here we acknowledge those many individuals and families, both alumni and friends, who have generously included us in their philanthropy with gifts up to $25,000.
