A downloadable .pdf file is available for each of the experiments (on Cooper's internal server). Each file gives an experiment description providing a brief introduction to the technology followed by the main objectives of the experiment itself. The theory behind the technology and experiment varies from description to description. Some include a fairly detailed development of the theory and the models behind the process. Others give a summary of the theoretical concepts and the students are expected to research and apply their own understanding of the theory to the interpretation of their experimental results. Typically, following a diagram of the apparatus an experimental procedure outlines the key steps needed in order to achieve a successful lab session.

This website is continually being developed as experiments change and new material is introduced. Indeed, feedback from students about typos, confusing sections and suggestions for new lines of investigation in the experiments lead to changes every semester.

Before starting an experiment, students should review the general information for any help and guidance it provides for the experiment. Also, the safety information should be studied to ensure that all relevant safety practices are followed.

If you have any suggestions as to additional information that should be included on the site or any changes that should be made - please contact Prof. Stock.
