Fluid Flow

Fluid flow is a key aspect of chemical engineering processes and design. Understanding the transport of fluids from one location to another and designing for friction losses, pressure drops, boundary surfaces, etc., is fundamental to most chemical engineering processes.

This experiment explores the basic principles of fluid flow by investigating pressure drops in a piping network that includes several common features found in piping systems.

The fluid flow experiment consists of a piping network that includes segments of pipe with different diameter, valves, and various fittings. By measuring pressure drops across these segments, valves and fittings, determine the friction losses and friction loss coefficients associated with these features.
