Dryer

Drying of materials is typically a final stage in a manufacturing process. Almost all drying processes involve the removal of water by vaporization and usually requires the addition of heat.

In this experiment, drying a wet marble dust paste in a stream of heated air is used to demonstrate the characteristics of drying.

The drying experiment allows the investigation of drying curves for a paste of marble dust and water in a stream of warmed air. The flow and temperature of the air are adjustable and characteristic heat and mass transfer coefficients may be determined from the the subsequent drying curves.
