Calligraphy, the Italic Hand

Supply List:

• 18" metal T-square
• 12" metal ruler or longer
• triangle with 90° angle (either 45-45-90 or 30-60-90)
• 6H pencil
• two 2H pencils
• soft cotton rag
• white nylon eraser
• drafting tape
• optional: a smallish portfolio case to carry materials (make sure it will fit your t-square and a 14" x 17" pad of paper)

The following materials may be purchased from the instructor on the first night of class (for approximately $16):

• non-waterproof black ink like Higgin's Eternal or Pelikan 4001
• pad of good quality 14" x 17" layout bond like Borden and Riley or Bienfang
• *Brause nibs 4mm, 3mm, 2.5 mm, 2 mm
• nib holder (one or more)

*Left-handed people might need to get Mitchell left-handed nibs instead. I'll have both available for you to try, before purchasing.
