Supply List:
FOR THE FIRST CLASS, PLEASE BRING:
- Materials Fee of $25.00, payable to the instructor (covers the cost of additional materials brought into class by instructor for the entire class to use)
- Tools:
- A soft rubber 4 inch Brayer (a brayer is a hand-held rubber roller)
- Plexi Glass Sheets: Get 2 plates with a thickness of 1/8" measuring 12 x 12 inches each.
- Wooden Spoon (Just get a cheap, dollar store quality, wooden cooking spoon)
- Scissors
- Retractable Utility Knife
- Pencils and Erasers
- Metal Ruler (at least 24 inches in length)
- Glue (Elmer's and Sobo are OK but a Neutral PH PVA (Poly Vinyl Acetate) is preferred)
- Speedball brand Water Based Block Printing Ink:
For first class get a medium or large tube of the following colors:
Black
White
Yellow
Magenta (or Red)
Blue (or Aqua)
***PLEASE NOTE: The facilities at the Cooper Union cannot accommodate oil based inks or paints. Please do not bring any oil based materials to class as they cannot be used in our classrooms. ***
- Papers:
- Canson Drawing Paper 19" x 25":
5 Sheets Black
5 Sheets any colors of your choice
- 18" x 24" sheet of tag-board (any color)
FOR SUBSEQUENT CLASSES:
You may need the following materials. We'll discuss these after the first class session:
- Additional printing papers
- Woodcut Set
- Linoleum carving plate
- Watercolor paints
- Paintbrushes of various sizes
- Oil Pastels

For Plexiglass: Some art stores have plexi in stock but Canal Plastics Center (diagonally across the street from Pearl Paint) definitely has what you're looking for. 345 Canal Street
Some of these stores will give you a student discount if you present your Cooper Union Continuing Education registration receipt.
