Supply List:
Please bring the following materials to first class and material fee of $15 (watercolor, gouache, acrylic medium and additional colors, gesso and some other materials will be provided).
- Acrylic paints (2 oz. tubes, Utrecht brand is good and inexpensive, Golden is better):
Cadmium yellow
light Cadmium red medium
Ultramarine blue
Phalo blue (do not get reddish tint!)
Titanium white
black
dioxazine purple
Quinacridone Magenta
one or more of the following browns: burnt sienna, raw sienna, burnt umber, raw umber
- White gouache (14 ml. tube or larger)
- Suggested Brushes: (bring whatever you have on hand. Your preferences for brushes is personal and your choices will develop as class progresses)
- Acrylic brushes (natural boar bristle or synthetic)
1/2" flat or filbert
1/2" in diameter round
smaller brushes for details
- Watercolor brushes
Windsor & Newton's Septer series, synthetic/natural blend #14 round or smaller, or $3.00 bamboo calligraphy brush at least ½" diameter high - highly recommended this is a good substitute for Windsor & Newton.
- Gouache brushes
Silverwhite series 1500, round and flat or filbert (size is your choice)
Princeton Art & Brush Co. 6300 Series, round and flat or filbert (size is your choice)
- Paper—Several sheets of 100% cotton watercolor paper such as Arches, Fabriano, etc. 20" x 30" 140#, hot press or cold press (to be torn into quarters)
- 2 sheets 22" x 30" American masters paper for acrylics #140 (available at Utrecht)
- Masking or drafting tape 3/4" wide
- Rags and/or paper towels
- 2 or 3 water containers (deli containers or glass jars are fine)
- Palette— Pad of disposable wax paper palettes for acrylics (very convenient for cleanup) and any other metal or plastic palette with wells for separate colors and area for mixing (there are many varieties available).
- Small plastic atomizer for water
- Optional—Color Wheel (try to get The Color Wheel Company version rather than Grumbacher)
