Materials will be discussed in the first class. Students should bring charcoals, erasers, chamois, large rough newsprint pad and the $45 (cash) semester model fee to first session.
Class 1 - 3
Charcoal Sticks: Soft vine or willow, soft and medium compressed, square Charkole (cheap, black pastel)
Erasers: Artgum, rubber or plastic, kneaded
Class 4 - 6
Black Waterproof Drawing Ink: Asian sumei or Pelikan, Winsor Newton, Higgins
Brush: Sable or other soft hair, bristle, or synthetic: rounds, flats, brights
Sticks (twigs) and 4 water containers
Class 7 - 8
Graphite Sticks or Woodless Pencils (Pitt brand): B, 4B, 6B, 9B
Erasers: Artgum, rubber or plastic, kneaded
Class 9 - 10
Black Conte Crayon: HB, B, 2B or the "Classic" Conte Set
Erasers: Artgum, rubber or plastic, kneaded
Additional Materials for All Classes:
Artists', drafting or masking tape
Chamois and soft cotton rag
Single-edge razor blade, sandpaper
Foamcore to use as a drawing board and portfolio
Paper (1-2 pads each or individual sheets):
Large rough newsprint
Large white drawing
