  About the work

My work is an attempt to connect the mind and body to the ever-present past in our continuing presence. Central to what I do is the construction and reconstruction of an image until I fully resonate with it. Images, stories, and words provide the structure for exploration. Within the framework of a trip to Japan, a photographer explores the inability to see alongside the birth and death of a relationship. The book, seven separate signatures, is contained in a black box wrapped and tied in a black cloth. The box, a Japanese-style container, is trimmed with a textured red paper inside. The sides are made from black museum board. The size and weight of the box with the seven signatures inside approximates that of the containers used to hold the ashes that remain from the cremation of the body.”C.S.
