En la barbaria no se Ilora (No crying allowed in the barber shop) evokes the coded preserve of the Latino barber shop through the display of actual barber chairs. A video monitor in the headrest of each chair displays footage that consists of repeated, almost ritualized gestures of barbers and customers. With this work, Pepón Osorio honors the contradictions and the opportunities inherent to membership in a minority community.
