In Michael Joo’s Double Approach (Slingshot), two video monitors are suspended above and below a glass plate by a tension-based sculpture. The monitors display looped footage of the artist jumping on a trampoline. The image of the artist thus oscillates from ceiling to floor and glass plate, creating, in Joo’s words, “a disorienting situation which is intended to reflect the potential reading of the work’s [reference to] the glass ceiling.”
