  About the work

I have spent many years of my artistic career using photography and digital technologies to examine issues of family and identity, beginning with my own role as the mother of teenage daughters and going on to look at questions surrounding personal history and identity. As an adoptee, I explored a family history that never felt quite like my own. Eventually this work led me to the search for and successful discovery of my birth mother at age forty. My art since then has focused on the questions surrounding identity and access to information, along with the larger questions of how we view and represent the other in our culture and our media.”C.F.
