  About the work

My subject matter grew out of a collusion between historical research, stories from my life, and stories from the lives of people I interview. The resulting ‘narratives’ are a layering of public and private voices and images--fragments of historical expertise about female bodies and sexuality, case histories, 1950s novels, contemporary poetry, whispered fantasies, and reverse (negative) images. The technology juxtaposes equipment from the recent past with contemporary electronic technology. Dark Bride tells a story about mid-century repression, desire, and dubious expertise, using sound and projections of both text and images.”E.G.C.
