Molly Blieden collaborates with artists, designers, and business consultants on the development of installation and interactive artworks under the name Transparent Image Design Studio. The Distinctive Companion Desk is a mirrored version of a typical reception desk complete with product brochures; a computer on the desktop is programmed with phrases describing office work such as “I project the appropriate image over the phone” and “There is nothing spectacular in what I do.” Blieden’s art addresses new patterns of work, the spatial grammar of the networked office, and the tension between self-absorption and display.
