LUCILLE TENAZAS Lucille Tenazas is founder and principal of Tenazas Design, a communication graphics and design firm working on publishing projects, identity and marketing systems for cultural, educational and non-profit organizations. Her career spans 25 years, 3 continents and 2 coasts, first working in Manila, the Philippines before emigrating to the United States in 1979. After graduate studies in Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan, she worked in New York and later established her firm, Tenazas Design in San Francisco where she lived for 20 years. She was the Founding Chair of the MFA in Design at the California College of the Arts in 2000. In 2002, Lucille received the National Design Award in Communications Design by the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. In 2005 she lived in Rome, Italy maintaining her studio practice until her return to New York last year where she currently lives and works. She is working on her monograph, Lucille Tenazas: Designer First to be published by Princeton Architectural Press. Lucille Tenazas is the Frank Stanton Chair in Graphic Design at the Cooper Union for Fall 2007. | BACK | |
