Registration Instructions
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

Fall 2008

Information about all courses in Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) is available in the HSS office (room 113E). Advisors in the Schools may approve registration in HSS courses that are part of regular degree requirements. However, students should come to the HSS office to get special permission for the following:

  • Foreign language courses: see Dean Germano or Professor Hyman if you are interested in studying a foreign language at Cooper for the first time.
  • Courses at Eugene Lang College: see Professor Stieber for information anytime during the first week of the fall semester.

In exceptional cases, the Dean may grant permission to take humanities and social science courses outside of Cooper Union during the summer months. Please see Professor Stieber or Dean Germano for further information.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS REGISTERING FOR HSS3 (The Making of Modern Society)

HSS3 involves both a one-hour lecture on Mondays from 11 to 12 and any one of several two-hour discussion sections. All students must register for both the lecture and a discussion section.

Closed sections and courses cannot be overloaded. Faculty do not have authority to add additional students to closed sections or courses. Please see Professor Stieber or Dean Germano if a schedule conflict cannot otherwise be resolved.
