Registration Instructions
The Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture

Fall 2008

ATTENTION: ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS

PLEASE CAREFULLY READ AND FOLLOW THESE REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS + THE INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE OFFICE OF ADMISSIONS AND RECORDS WHICH ARE ONLY AVAILABLE ON THE COOPER UNION WEBSITE.

WHEN TO COME TO THE SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE OFFICE:
Registration cards will be approved in the Architecture Office, Room 301F, according to the following schedule:

5th year Monday 14 April 10AM-3PM
go to Admissions Tuesday 15 April

4th year Tuesday 15 April 10AM-3PM
go to Admissions Wednesday 16 April

3rd year Wednesday 16 April 10AM-3PM
go to Admissions Thursday 17 April

2nd year Wednesday 16 April 10AM-3PM
go to Admissions Thursday 17 April

Students who do not have their registration cards approved on the appropriate date and time slot may have the card approved, without penalty of late fee, through Friday 18 April.

Anyone who does not meet the 18 April deadline will have to register on the first day of classes, Tuesday 2 September 2008, and a late registration fee of $100 will be imposed.

WHEN TO GO TO THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE:
You will receive your registration card in your student mailbox. On the back of your registration card you will find a randomly assigned number, date and time for your registration in the Admissions Office. You may register in the Admissions Office at any time during or after your assigned time but not before.

If your number is: Then you may go to Admissions, on your day, between:
1-50 9-10 a.m.
51-100 10-11 a.m.
101-150 11-12 p.m.
ADMISSIONS CLOSED 12-1 p.m.
151-200 1-2 p.m.
201-250 2-3 p.m.
251-300 3-4 p.m.

YOUR REGISTRATION WILL NOT BE COMPLETE UNTIL YOUR APPROVED REGISTRATION CARD IS RECEIVED BY THE OFFICE OF ADMISSIONS AND RECORDS ON (OR AFTER) YOUR ASSIGNED DATE AND DURING (OR AFTER) YOUR ASSIGNED TIME SLOT.

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR DELIVERING YOUR CARD TO THE OFFICE OF ADMISSIONS AND RECORDS BETWEEN 15 APRIL AND 18 APRIL.

Schedule changes may take place during the drop/add period, 2-12 September. Any schedule changes must be accompanied by a drop/add form. Beginning Monday 15 September, no courses may be added but students may drop a course by payment of a $25 fee with permission of the dean of the School of Architecture and the instructor. If the student is passing the course at the time of withdrawal, the designation of "W" will appear on the record. If the student is failing the course, a grade of "WF" will be recorded.

NO CLASSES MAY BE ADDED AFTER FRIDAY 12 SEPTEMBER. Students may DROP courses until the end of the sixth week of the semester (Tuesday 14 October) by following the above procedure.

You will not be permitted to register if: (1) you have any outstanding financial obligation(s) to The Cooper Union or The School of Architecture; (2) you have not completed your medical forms—available in Student Services; (3) you have a Shop/Printmaking debt—payable (cash or check) in the School of Architecture Office prior to or during registration.

FALL 2008 CLASSES BEGIN ON TUESDAY 2 SEPTEMBER BUT A MONDAY CLASS SCHEDULE WILL BE FOLLOWED THAT DAY.
