Institutional Giving and Grants

The Department of Institutional Giving and Grants focuses on meeting college-wide funding needs that range from faculty academic and research projects to capital support and special efforts. The department solicits private philanthropic foundations and corporate contributions, as well as sponsored government grants programs. This unique method of approaching institutional fundraising provides the department with the organizational flexibility to identify resources from the broadest possible array of organizations. Similarly, it permits the department to structure solicitations so that they accord not only with foundation or agency guidelines for achieving measurable results, but with the values philanthropies embrace for advancing education and the betterment of society.

Our goal is to ensure that, whatever the need—faculty research grants, school curriculum enhancement or building renovation—it gains wide exposure in private and public funding domains. It's a service that meshes well with The Cooper Union's tradition of viewing education, like air or water, as a shared resource-individual in its use but dependent on and responsible to the community as a whole.
