Tours

Architecture: To schedule a tour, please call the School of Architecture at 212-353-4220.

Art: Cooper Union actively participates in fairs sponsored by The National Portfolio Day Association. In addition, we host four Open House/Portfolio Review Days annually on campus. These events are for prospective students and their families. The Open House dates for Fall 2008 will be posted during Summer 2008.
If you are planning a trip to New York, please visit one of our Spring Exhibitions which are open to the public.

Engineering: The Engineering Open House will take place in November 2008. If you have other questions please e-mail admissions@cooper.edu. Tours for the spring are now closed. Please e-mail in May for summer visitation.

From Kennedy Airport
Taxis: $45 (direct to Cooper Union), plus tolls and tip (10-15% of the fare, more if you have excessive luggage). New York Airport Service Express Bus: $15. (718.875.8200) Buses run every 15 to 30 minutes between 6:15am and 11:10pm. The drive is 45-65 minutes during peak hours making stops at Grand Central, Port Authority and Penn Station. Super Shuttle USA: $13-22. (800.451.0455) Buses run on demand 45-60 minutes, between 6am and 11:30pm making stops anywhere between Battery Park and 227th Street including all hotels. From LaGuardia Airport
Taxis: $25 (direct to Cooper Union), plus tolls and tip. New York Airport Service Express Bus: $10. From Newark Airport
Taxis: $35-51, plus tolls and tip (if a flat fee isn't offered, you may be required to pay double the amount on the meter). Olympia Airport Express Bus: $12. (212.964.6233) Buses run every 30 minutes, 6am to 12 midnight, making stops at Grand Central, Port Authority and Penn Station. Super Shuttle Manhattan: $19. By bus
Buses arrive at the Port Authority Terminal at 42nd Street From the terminal, you can take a taxi (approx. $7), the subway (S train to Grand Central and then the #6 train downtown - see subway information below) or MTA buses (crosstown #M42 to Lexington Ave., ask for a transfer and switch to the downtown #M101). Subway and bus fare: $2. You must have a Metrocard or exact change (coins only) to board the bus. For more information, go to www.mta.info.

By railroad
Long distance trains generally arrive at Penn Station (34th Street and Broadway). From Penn, either take a taxi to The Cooper Union (approx. $5) or get on the N or R subway downtown (see subway information below). Metro North trains arrive at Grand Central Station, from which your options are either taxi (approx. $5) or the #6 subway downtown (see subway information below). By subway
The closest stop to The Cooper Union is at Astor Place, which is served by the #6 train. The N and R trains have a stop at 8th Street and Broadway, about 2 blocks west of The Cooper Union. New York City subway and bus fare is $2. You must have a Metrocard for the subway (bought at the subway service booths or Metrocard vending machine within the station). By car
From the East Side, use the FDR Drive and take Exit 5 (Houston Street). Take Houston Street westbound to Lafayette Street. Turn right (north) on Lafayette and drive to Astor Place. Turn right on Astor Place and drive one block to Cooper Square. From the West Side, take the West Side Highway to 56th Street and continue south on 12th Avenue (which becomes West Street). At 12th Street, turn left and take 12th Street to 3rd Avenue. Turn right on 3rd Avenue and drive to Cooper Square, which begins at 7th Street.
