Residence Hall Application Checklist

Please note, the following items must be returned by the dates listed below in order for your housing contract to be validated. If you fail to follow the instructions below, your housing contract will be forfeited. If all forms are not returned, you will not be able to move into the Residence Hall.

Due dates Items to be returned
5/3/07 Housing applications are due in the Residence Hall at the above address.

6/15/07 One copy of your housing contract signed by both you and your parents if you are under 18 years of age.

A security deposit of $500. Checks should be made out to The Cooper Union, or you can make a credit card payment by calling Marcia Alexander at 212-353-4146.

Payment Plan Form.

A signed copy of the Wellness Floor Contract, if applicable.

A signed copy of the Waiver of Rights Under the Buckley Amendment, if applicable.

Health/Medical forms including Immunization records.

Enrollment for The Cooper Union health plan or waiver form if you already have health insurance.(Medical and insurance forms are on the Student Services Orientation website.)

8/1/07 Fall housing payment must be paid according to the selected plan.

Cancellation of lease - If you have made other housing arrangements, we ask that you notify us immediately at 212-353-4099, as we need every available space for students on our waiting list.

Return of lease - A fully executed copy of your lease will be returned to you at move in.

Move in / roommate info - Move in instructions and your roommates contact information will be sent to you early July. Cooper Union reserves the right to change your room assignment if necessary. Should your room assignment change before you move in, you will be immediately notified.

Emergency Contact Information - Please designate an emergency contact person on your behalf. Students under the age of 18 cannot be treated in New York City medical facilities without the consent of their parents or legal guardians, even with Cooper Union insurance. We strongly advise that you bring written authorization signed by your parents or guardians, giving clear instructions as to how the medical facility should contact them in case of an emergency.
